Too Much Freedom

Thomas L. Friedman's latest is yet another one of the turnarounds from "dissent is patriotic" to "dissent is dangerous." I see my friend Matt Welch--who has a distaste of Friedman that I'm beginning to understand--takes him on. If anything, Matt is too kind.

In a way, this is like the preemptive claim that if McCain won the election the only explanation would be racism. Now apparently many are saying if Obama is put in any danger it's due to all that harsh criticism he's receiving. This from the same people who either said nothing, or even cheered, when the opposition to Bush was considerably worse.
