You Too Can Look Like Woody
Marion Reade's The Unruly Life Of Woody Allen tries to hook us in the first chapter by describing the Mia Farrow/Soon-Yi scandal, but that's old news. What actually intrigued me was a description of his daily diet. In case you're wondering:
Breakfast:
Cheerios with raisins and sliced bananas
Prune Juice
Lunch:
Tuna salad sandwich on healthy white bread, no tomato, no lettuce. Sometimes turkey.
Nestle Crunch or chocolate cake
Coffee
Before Bed:
Chocolate-chip cookies (or equivalent)
Two glasses of milk
Occasionally he'd be with others and have Chinese food, Italian food, whatever. But the above regimen he's apparently stuck to for decades.
3 Comments:
A lot of dairy. A lot of sugar. No vegetables. He should be dead already.
When people have regimented diets, is it because they know what they like and stick with it? Or is it because food varitions are not desired, that is they don't really care much about mealtime? I generally don't eat the same thing two days in a row - if only for variety's sake. I'll have cereal Mon morning. I'll have bagel with egg Tues. Bisket and jelly Wed., etc.
Life's too short to eat the same thing every day.
Verification word is chipse. I only have chips maybe twice a week.
Perhaps to some people (especially thin people) food just doens't play that big a deal in their life. They know they have to eat, but it's just a function to be done with.
Or perhaps Woody is like Einstein, who had all the same clothes in his closet so he didn't have to waste any time picking out a suit. Woody's busy making movies and probably doesn't want to have to worry about the food he eats.
